“When my Mom was asked to leave her Assisted Living apartment in Adrian, as her Dementia was worsening, I didn’t know what to do. I needed a place where I knew that she would be safe and have her needs met for personal care and nutrition. My daughter, who lives in Jackson, made a phone call to Highland, and the next day we were visiting the facility. I was impressed with the personal way the residents were treated. A few days later, I moved my Mother to Highland. It wasn’t easy as I wouldn’t be able to visit everyday, as I had in the past. All the staff at Highland help to care for the residents with love and understanding. Dementia/Alzheimer’s is not an easy disease to predict or understand. It isn’t easy leaving Mom, but knowing she is in a place where people care about her needs, puts my mind at ease. I can’t do everything or be everywhere for my Mom and my family. Highland is helping me keep my life the way my Mother would want.
I was very impressed with the way all the Ladies of Highland were honored for Mothers Day. Their hair and makeup were done, and pictures taken. The ladies were escorted to a place of honor, and a short biography was told about each one. They were someone, not just a person in a Dementia facility. Many smiles were observed. Desserts for the residents and their guests were great. Thanks so much.”
