Be a Volunteer or Donate

Highland Alzheimer’s Care Residence is always eager to talk to anyone who may be interested in volunteering their time or donating goods or services that might benefit our residents, their families and/or our staff.

We would be pleased to engage volunteers who would enjoy interacting in any one of the following ways:

Story telling and/or reading to an individual or a group of residents

Poets or Writers who would enjoy sharing some of their words

Collectors to “show and tell” about their hobby

Travelers who have a slide show of their adventures

Boy Scouts or Cub Scouts with community service projects

Girl Scouts or Brownies with community service projects

Crafters to lead in a project of any kind

Cooks to lead in a “yummy” project of any kind

Artists to lead in a project of any kind

Gardeners to lead in a project of any kind

Photographers to lead in a project of any kind

Gamers to play cards, games, dominos, bingo, or even Wii games

Vocalists (soloists or groups)

Musicians (individuals, groups, bands, ensembles, etc.)

Clowns or Jugglers

Pet therapists

Any activity that includes children interacting with senior citizens

Please call (517) 782-1900 and ask for the Administrator or the Activities Director to discuss the possibility of volunteering, and to help us to brighten our resident’s days with smiles and laughter.

Highland is also glad to accept donations of goods or services that make sense for our facility, our residents and their family members and for our staff.  Please call before you bring things to us as we must consider what space is available and/or if your items are a good fit for us.  If your donation is not appropriate for Highland, we will try to help you find some place or some one else who could make good use of it.  And, each summer Highland sponsors a “yard sale” where we collect items for a huge weekend sale and then donate all of the proceeds to the Great Lakes Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association.  So, you see, that we will do everything that we can to assure that gracious donations will go to a good cause.
